BIO of Scott
Mitchell
I
was born in Rockford, IL, on July 5, 1951, but I got to Texas as quick as I could. My father worked for a company that
moved him often.
When we got to Texas, they wanted to move him to
Colorado. He said, no thank you, I am finally
home. I have
been to many places in the United States, but, I have
never questioned that I was where I wanted to be. My Family
came to Texas in 1957 when I was 6. We lived in various places in south/central
Texas until we ended up in Llano in 1967 where my parents
live to this day.
I graduated
from Llano High School in 1969.
Several years later, after completing a Commercial Divers School
in Houston, I joined the Navy (in 1973) to become a Navy Diver. I was honorably discharged as a
Petty Officer 2nd Class Machinist and 2nd Class (Salvage) Diver in 1977.
The
computer generation was taking hold in the late 70’s. I decided to attend Southwest
School of Electronics and went to work in the computer industry in
1981. Working as a hardware
technician, I advanced to Service Manager at Unico, Inc. I continued to
learn as IBM PC’s came on the scene during the mid 1980’s. As I moved on
to other jobs in related fields, computers still remained my focus. I took on the task of learning
and becoming a network administrator in the late 1980’s, and continued
through the late 1990’s, by providing Server, Desk Side, and telephone
support in various small companies.
I
joined the team at Tivoli Systems, Inc. in 1999 as a software
verification engineer.
Having a background in network administration and
support of Windows, Netware and 4 flavors of Unix operating
systems the transition to software test was easy.
I now am an IT Specialist with Middleware support.
I
first moved to Cedar Park in November of '84. We moved
back to the outskirts of NW Austin in 1990, and moved
back again in 1996. I have been a resident of The Crossing
at Carriage Hills for the last 13 years. I have been married
for 26 years on 9/11 (we will never forget our anniversary).
My wife Debbie has been a stay at home mom for
our two children. My daughter, Kristin, is graduating
UT, and my son , Matt, works for Boeing in Everett Wa.
My
hobbies include Karate, very early morning workouts with the Navy Seal
Conditioning Course at Zilker Park and as much Golf as I can manage to
get in.
